The Irony
Dirty Money looks pretty good: it’s a documentary about Brazilian skate culture. Apparently they’re not interested in sponsorship or any of that jazz – just making videos and having a good old time. Which is cool. Except that in the bottom corner of the film’s website it says “Patrocínio Cultural: Nike SB” which, for the [...]

But government and women’s groups have moved to have it banned, apparently, on the grounds that beer advertising should not [...]

Nunca x Nike
Over on the Hypebeast they’ve just announced a new collaboration between Nike and the Brazilian street artist Nunca. There’s some crap on the website about how these designs connect “the people of the favelas to the sport they hold dear,” which doesn’t make sense for a bunch of reasons. But whatever. The pixação football shirt [...]

Beyoncé goes Forró?
You’ve heard the rumours. I’ve heard the rumours. We’ve all heard the rumours. But now it’s official: 2010 will finally see the release of Beyoncé’s long-awaited first foray into the world of forró music, I Am Maria Bonita. This one gots hit written all over it…
